The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 authorized $460 million of additional funding through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to more than 4,600 eligible RHCs for the Rural Health Clinic COVID-19 Testing and Mitigation Program.
This rescue fund will allow RHCs to expand testing efforts and help mitigate the spread of COVID through their local communities. These are continued efforts by HHS and HRSA to combat against the COVID virus in rural communities across the US.
RHCs qualifying for the one-time distribution will receive $100,000 per clinic site through direct deposit. These payments will be distributed around June 10, 2021, and the direct deposits made will show a payment description of “COVID*ARPAct*RHCCTMPmt*HHS.GOV”.
Reporting Requirements
In order to be eligible for the new distribution, any RHC that received the previous testing program payment of $49,461.42 must be current in reporting on the RHC Reporting Portal the following items:
- Number of tests conducted
- Number of positive tests
RHCs that have not reported updated testing information can update their data and be considered for future payments.
