NFP E-News Update  May 23, 2013
The Colleges and Universities Compliance Project, begun in 2008 by the IRS, distributed 400 questionnaires to a randomly-selected sample of schools to ensure compliance with current regulations. Based on responses to the questionnaires and details of the respective Form 990s, the IRS selected 34 of these colleges and universities for further review and found that unreported unrelated business income (UBI) in higher education was found in almost every case examined by the IRS. Ms. Schlichte serves as a Director with Blue & Co., LLC and has extensive experience in providing audit, accounting, tax and various consulting services to numerous not-for-profit organizations. She is also the Chairperson of the Carmel office’s Not-For-Profit Services Specialty Group and serves on the firm-wide Audit and Accounting Quality Control Committee.

 

Ms. Schlichte received her Bachelor Degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. She serves as the Chairperson of the Finance Committee and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions. She also volunteers her time as needed to assist with the accounting and finances at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, Indiana.
